The Royal Lochnagar distillery is the closest distillery to Aboyne. Situated behind the Queen’s highland residence, Balmoral Castle, at Crathie, this Highland malt is the one on offer to guests, to partake of a complimentary dram.
The distillery was awarded its Royal Warrant in 1848 after Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and their children visited at the invitation of John Begg.
Other local distilleries including Fettercairn, Tomintoul and the many famous whiskies of Speyside are just a short and beautiful drive over the mountains to Dufftown
The Dee Dram is a limited edition whisky. With only 405 bottles from a single cask, these individually numbered bottles are available locally with all profits going directly to the River Dee Trust.
